To make sure your octopus meets the required specifications for medical use in UK hospitals for premature babies, please read the following instructions carefully. Please note that other countries may have different requirements.

Required Materials
- 100% cotton yarn in 1 colour, plus extra 100% cotton yarn in black for facial features
- 3.5mm E/4 crochet hook
- Yarn needles and scissors
- Hypo allergenic 60 degree washable and tumble dry-able toy filling
- Stitch markers (optional)

Do not use any attachable eyes, bells, or rattles in your octopus. All facial features must be sewn on securely using 100% cotton yarn.
Octopus head must be between 6cm - 9cm in length. This octopus measures 8cm cubed for the head.
Tentacles must be between 16cm - 22cm when stretched (they do not need to curl). This octopus' tentacles measure 18cm when stretched.
Please keep to using just 1 yarn colour, and keep your knit tight to avoid any small holes that little fingers can be caught in.
Please try to consider your environment when making these for premature babies and make sure they arrive clean and come from a smoke and pet free environment with no fur or fluff attached.

This pattern is in US terminology and is made as one piece, and worked in the round.
